Email List Should I Buy an Email List? Help! Many online entrepreneurs are tempted by fellow marketers to buy an email list. Is this a good move?

It’s obviously a much easier and quicker process to buy an email list. That being said, it is also far more expensive.

Despite the heightened price of purchasing a contact list, it is hard to argue the fact that it is a much harder to build your own list. So why in the world shouldn’t you buy an email list?

#1 Reason Why You Shouldn’t Buy an Email List

When you build your own contact list from the ground up, people who have offered up their email address to you are familiar with you and your business.

These are generally people that have previously enjoyed or been intrigued by information provided by you.

When a person elects to buy an email list from someone else they do not have the luxury of an existing relationship.

The people included in this email list have more than likely never visited your home page, have never shown interest in your products or business, and possibly haven’t even shown interest in your industry as a whole.

If the people in this purchased email list have no idea what you’re presenting or where you’re coming from your message will be considered unwanted spam and they’ll almost definitely brush you aside.

#2 Reason Why You Shouldn’t Buy an Email List

When a person receives an email that is unwanted or unwarranted, they often mark the message as spam. When an email message is marked as spam, the Email service provider is notified and it begins to keep tabs on similar messages.

If enough people mark your message as spam, the email service provider will begin automatically filtering your messages as spam when sent to other people.

This is pretty much a death penalty to your marketing campaign.

You will be placed on blacklist and fellow email service providers will be notified. This spam filled blacklist is the last thing your business needs.

#3 Reason Why You Shouldn’t Buy an Email List

If you purchase an email list from somebody, there is a pretty good chance that you are not the only one to have paid to access the list.

This means that these people may become numb to your marketing tactics because their inboxes are being flooded from all angles.

Your personal message, regardless of how ell it is presented, may simply become lost in the noise. Surely being heard is one of the goals when you buy an email list right?

So if I don’t buy an email list, how do I build a good one?

Building an email list doesn’t really have to be the pain in the rear you’re undoubtedly anticipating. Your blog or websites surely has quality information.

Why not benefit from sharing it? On your website you should provide and opt in.

By simply providing some basic contact information, readers will be able to access further information regarding your business.

No one loses. Each of these subscribers who choose to opt in should be considered a qualified business lead. Why buy an email list when you’re more than capable of building a perfectly good one yourself?
