You may have noticed that Facebook is quickly becoming one of the most popular methods of marketing on the Internet. In fact, Facebook is the #2 most visited site on the web today. Marketers love the ability to create Groups and Fan Pages to funnel targeted traffic and create a list of people whom they can connect with. Are you interested in using Facebook as way of marketing your business? If so, you need a Personal Profile first. Read on as I explain the dos and don’ts when creating your personal profile.

Personal Profile set up is fairly simple. Go to Facebook.com and follow the step-by-step setup process.

Here are Dos and Don’ts for Your Facebook Profile:

First of all you will need to include a profile picture. This should always be a picture of your smiling face. Not your dog, business logo, or new car. It doesn’t matter what is in the picture as long is your beautiful smiling face is the focus. It is important that you look exciting and happy in you pic because people want to do business with people who are fun to be around. You are the main focus of your Facebook Profile.

You will be asked for a profile name. You should only use your first and last name here. Don’t put some crazy adjective like, “Grant Dunn The Master Of MLM.” You may be on Facebook for business but your profile is about you. Save the keyword related titles for your Groups and Fan Pages.

As you follow the process of setting up your profile you will be asked to fill out many different sections about yourself. Things like, education, contact info, interests, movies, books, and many other things. Be sure to fill all of these things out. You want the people you meet to be able to find common interest in your lifestyle. You may be surprised of the quality relationships you will build off of one simple commonality like a favorite music artist or actor. You can always edit and add to your profile information later under the “edit profile” tab.

You will have your profile up in running in no time. Start connecting with other people related to your industry. At the top of your profile is a search bar. Just write something like MLM or Network Marketing and a whole list of Groups and Fan Pages will come up. Visit them and connect with people. ‘Friend’ people you have commonalities with. This may be common interest in a sports team, industry leader, marketing training, hobby, whatever. Make your friend requests personal with a message.

And remember, “people join people not business opportunities.”

Use attraction marketing when connecting with others on Facebook. If you think you are going to go and tell everybody you meet about our MLM business and sign loads of people up, you have another thing coming. You need to master attraction to be successful with Internet/Network Marketing. Position yourself as a leader and offer value first and foremost. Otherwise, you will just push people away and fail in your network marketing business.
