Why To Drip-Feed Backlinks For Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
We all know that backlinks are the primary way to rank our website pages on Google as well as other search engines. Good rankings are attributed to the higher amount, more targeted and authoritative the backlinks are for a page. Back-linking your pages can be simple, but there are certain factors you must consider that will affect the value of your backlinks.
Old School Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
In the past, Internet marketers could just throw as many backlinks as possible to a target page. This is not quite as effect today because Google has highly refined its ranking algorithm. In this article I will discuss a technique called link-spreading aka drip-feeding.
Why Drip-Feeding for Search Engine Optimization:
Google has robots called spiders that are always crawling the Internet searching for links. Not only examining the links themselves, but also studying the overall pattern in which links are produced. Google really prefers ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ links. This means links that are produced and spread across the web naturally by other humans.
For example, let’s say you write an article on your Marketing website about “link building.” And you begin to find that other website/blog owners are writing about your article and linking back to it. Or maybe somebody comes across your article and shares it to their favorite social bookmarking site. Some people may tweet about it or share it on Facebook. Google will see these links as organically made.
The Search Engine Optimization Solution:
So, ‘natural’ links are deemed so because they were created by a number of people at different times and in different places. Google wants to see this, and will not give ‘unnatural’ backlinks as much credit for SEO. Many submission tools offer drip submission for creating a large number of backlinks manually. For example, social bookmarking is a very popular way to manually create backlinks to your pages. There are hundreds of different social bookmarking websites. OnlyWire.com is the best social bookmarking submitter that I have found. And though you probably only prefer one or two, you may want to submit your own content or pages to as many as possible in order to create a large number of backlinks. (See Recommended Tools)
However, you probably don’t want tons of links to be created at one time because Google will see the linking pattern and not give those links as much credit as usual. This is why drip submission techniques will help you avoid this problem.
